Description

Lt. Charles W. Porter was a Union soldier of the 3rd Wisconsin Cavalry, stationed at Fort Scott, Kansas during the Civil War.  This book is a transcript of the diary he kept from 1862 until 1865.  Porter provides a first-person perspective on the conflict and fighting the Confederate Bushwhackers ranging all over southwest Missouri, eastern Kansas, and northwest Arkansas.
