Bushwhacker Days Festival

The 54th Annual Bushwhacker Days festival takes place June 9, 2018. Living History venues this year will include The Farnum Family Bluegrass/ Gospel Band from Silver Dollar City, HH Cloggers from Lamar, MO and folk musician Lem Sheppard. Period crafters to be demonstrating around the old jail house including blacksmiths, a broom maker, and a wood carver. Featured guest speaker is Marc Kollbaum who will be talking about his book “The Boat Burners” a tale of espionage and sabotage by Confederate spies on the Mississippi River during the Civil War.

Katy Railroad historian “Locomotive” Mike Landis will be the guest speaker at the July program. Mr. Landis will discuss the history of the Missouri-Kansas-Texas “Katy” Railroad, which was so fundamental to the development of Vernon County and the state of Missouri.
