Description

Missouri was a divided state during the Civil War of 1861-1865. In this narrative, author Glenn Dedmondt tells the story of the many different flags created by secessionist citizens and soldiers for use during battle and as a symbol of resistance to Federal authority. Illustrations of the flags used by towns and military units, including guerrilla or “Bushwhacker” groups, are accompanied by well-researched histories of these and a background of the Civil War events in Missouri.
